NVision is a young company building a solid portfolio of customer success by creating unique, innovative geospatial solutions for small and large organizations. Based at the Stennis Technology Park in Bay St. Louis, MS, NVision provides a full range of information technology (IT), software design and development, database design and engineering, and GIS and remote sensing services and solutions.
NVision Solutions, Inc. was incorporated on March 14th, 2002. I began
discussions with Mr. Donald K. Peyton shortly after he and another senior
executive from a successful business became available in the middle of
February, 2002. I solicited Mr. Peyton to accept the position of Executive
Vice-President of my new company. He suggested I interview Mr. Craig Harvey,
his former CTO for the position of Executive Vice-President and CIO. Mr.
Harvey subsequently accepted the position and I had my Executive management
team in place. We discussed the local business environment and the market
place for Geospatial technology. We roughed out a business plan and then
sought guidance from the Mississippi Space Commerce Initiative (MSCI),
Mississippi Enterprise for Technology (MSET), Small Business Administration
(SBA) in Gulfport, MS, and NASA contacts.
After visiting with these and many other local business resources we revised our business plan and began the procedures for incorporation. Incorporation was completed on March 14th, 2002 and immediately thereafter we applied to and were accepted to the MSET incubator. We then rented commercial space on NASA’s Stennis Space Center and opened our door for business.
I then applied for and was accepted to become a Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc (ESRI) business partner. ESRI is the market leader and holds market share in the Geospatial software and consulting industry. We became registered consultants and resellers of the ESRI software product line which will allow us to provide turnkey solutions in an otherwise compartmentalized market.
The next order of business was to develop a research and development plan and complete an application to MSCI. Membership in this organization helps build strong business relationships and provides access to numerous business opportunities in Mississippi and the United States. We submitted our application and were selected to make our presentation to the Executive council of MSCI the following cycle. We were accepted to the MSCI business cluster and immediately began to build strategic partnerships that would help us in the near and long term. We partnered with Diamond Data Systems (DDS) to allow government clients to access us through the GSA contract. We also competed for a NASA contract through the NASA Technology Transfer Program and won that contract based on expertise and price.
On November 5th, 2002 my corporation received certification from the Mississippi Development Authority as a small, disadvantaged, minority, woman-owned business. On February 7th, 2005 we received federal 8A status as a small, disadvantaged, minority, woman-owned business.
During our short history my company has grown by leaps and bounds. We have a hard-working staff who is a continual source of inspiration and pride for me as we meet our customers' challenges with innovative solutions and top-notch, responsive customer service.
Thank you for visiting our Web site and please visit us in person so we can share our vision with you.
Sincerely,
Socorro Harvey, NVision Solutions Inc. President, CEO
